CD Review and unboxing: Rainbow - SO女

Today I'll be reviewing/unboxing/revealing Rainbow's second mini album SO女.

Rainbow are a seven member band from Korea and have released two mini albums to date, plus two singles in Japan - to great success, too! Althought their cover for SO女 shows off the girls' cute and sweet charms, they've been known for their sexy concepts. Case and point, their video for A which contained ab-showing dance moves which were sensationally banned for being overtly sexual. Check it out for yourself here:

So there you have it. Rainbow can be both sexy and cute. That's what I like most about Rainbow - they are not restricted to one concept. And SO女 shows off the girls' diversity. Songs like So Cool and A are rather cute with a sexy spin, whilst To Me and Mach completely lose the cutesy edge and show Rainbow as 7 powerful women. There is a even a ballad thrown into the mix to further show off the girls' talents - their vocals. Indeed, Rainbow are very commendable vocalists. With 7 members, it's sometimes hard to distinguish each member's individual vocal but they are all very powerful and what's more, Woori, is a fantastic rapper and gets her moment to shine on every track. My favourite track is either A or To Me, both insanely catchy with hooks that will never leave your head!

As for the packaging, I wouldn't say I was dissapointed, but maybe a bit let down.  I think that SO女 is one of the best mini albums of 2011, perhaps in the last few years even, yet the quality of the album packaging does not equate with the quality of the music. It's all very basic and the copy I recieved even had a fault! If you look at the image above you can see that the booklet is actually stuck on UPSIDE DOWN. It does look a bit unprofessional having the ladies stand upside down when the CD is standing upright (see above). But apart from that, it's still a nice package and the mini album is truly fantastic.

Quick peak inside the booklet, with the thank you notes from my favourite Rainbow member - Woori.
Rainbow only released SO女 in 2011 so I'm really hoping that they'll be more active in 2012 - and this time with no upside booklets!
