REVIEW: BIG BANG - FANTASTIC BABY
I've already the music videos for BIG BANG's BLUE and BAD BOY, and I've also reviewed their entire Alive mini album - but now it's time to review BIG BANG's latest music video for FANTASTIC BABY.
The music video was released today and oh my goodness - I am beyond impressed. I'm currently exhausted after a long, stressful day - but after seeing this music video, I feel envigorated and energised!
The music video is full of energy and excitement. It's incredibly fast-paced and that totally matches the speed of the song - a catchy, eletronic dance number. It's also refreshing seeing this side of BIG BANG after their cold New York videos of BLUE and BAD BOY. What impressed me the most about this video is the fashion. BIG BANG have always been on the forefront of fashion trends, but with FANTASTIC BABY, they have surprassed trends and their style here is unique and futuristic.
G-Dragon is my favourite BIG BANG member and by far the most adventurous and daring character of not only the group, but in South Korea as a whole. His clothes are really edgy and have a punk feel to them, but it's his hair that really steals the show. It's not often you find a man who can pull of hair like he does in this video. Despite the pink highlights and the long-flowing fringe, G-Dragon retains his masculinity through his swagger and persona. He is like the male Rapunzel in the first shot of the video and completely breaks down boundaries with his use of hair styling and make up. Iconic!
Although TOP is my least favourite member, I have to give him props for his styling in FANTASTIC BABY. He totally rocks the aqua hair and his military outfits suit him down to a tee. I'm not sure if the glasses that he rocks in the final scene are the most flattering, but he still manages to keep his suave persona in check. Daesang, Taeyang and Seungri all up their fashion-game for this video too. Although not as daring as G-Dragon or TOP, they still posess a cool and edgy style.
After all that, I'm going to watch the video one more time and head for bed. Then wake up in the morning and watch it all over again.

REVIEW: BIG BANG - ALIVE (5th Mini Album)
It's finally here! BIG BANG's new release has arrived and I couldn't be more happy with it. I became a huge BIG BANG fan last year when they released their 4th mini album and became obsessed with them after their Love song single. And now, one year later, they've returned with their 5th mini album ALIVE.
Check out my track-by-track review after the break...

NEW MUSIC: BIG BANG - BAD BOY
After returning last week with BLUE, BIG BANG released their second music video for their 5th mini album ALIVE yesterday. The song is titled BAD BOY and is completely different to BLUE.
BLUE was more of an electronic ballad whereas BAD BOY is an urban/R&B uptempo. Although the song is really soulful and has a classic feel to it, it's still really edgy and has that modern twist that we've come to expect from BIG BANG. G-Dragon's rapping skills are in full force here and he sounds awesome on the beat-heavy track.
The music video for BAD BOY is equally as awesome. It's really simple and is in the same vein of BLUE. Both music videos were filmed in New York and instead of being on a NY rooftop (as seen in BLUE), the 5 guys are on the streets of the Big Apple in BAD BOY. Their style is amazing and each member has their individual look in this music video. Whether it's TOP's blue hair, Taeyang's effortless and relaxed style or G-Dragon's edgy and individual style, each member is so unique and their outfits blend in with the 'cool' streets of NY. A simple video, but really effective.
I'll be reviewing the whole album very soon... so look out for that!
REVIEW: BIG BANG - Blue
Time permitting, I'll be reviewing every new BIG BANG track that will be released over the next week. Their first track of 2012 is Blue. Whereas they stormed 2011 with their awesome electro hit Tonight, they begin their Alive Mini Album campaign with a slower paced song.
Blue quite simply took my breath away. For a song which is so unassuming and subtle, it had quite an effect on me. The 5 members of BIG BANG all sound fantastic. There are no vocal gymnastics or crazy loud vocals. It's all very soft and subtle, and I love that about this song. Production wise, it definately has a soft and sombre feel to it. This matches the vocal delivery of each member. This song is an example of a song where you don't have to understand the lyrics for it to be able to provoke emotions in you.
The music video was also fantastic. I watched it a few times in a row because it was THAT good. It was shot so beautifully New York and had a cinematic feel to it. The blue tint to the video made it look a lot colder and emotional too. The 5 guys look awesome, I wish I could have their style (especially G-Dragon's!)
I'm really looking forward to the other 5 songs and videos! Knowing that they'll be promoting 6 songs during this comeback has me so excited for the upcoming week!

Another G-Dragon teaser photo is unveiled
G-Dragon is officially the coolest guy on earth. No pun intended with "cool", but seriously... how amazing is this promo shot? A part of the reason why I love the Korean music industry is because it is so fresh and new. Korean artists break down barriors and aren't afraid to be 'different'. They aren't 'safe' or 'predictable'.
This shot is striking without being 'ridiculous'. So much effort has gone into each aspect of this picture, and it's really gearing up to hear BIG BANG's new material. Cannot wait.

It's here! G-Dragon's teaser photo!
It's here!
Check out G-Dragon's teaser photo for BIG BANG's upcoming mini album Alive.
He looks frozen solid... but I love the Renaissance hair + jacket style.
The comeback is now upon us.

Only one BIG BANG teaser left...
BIG BANG definately are back. After waiting a whole week for Daesang, Taeyang and Seungri's teaser photos for their upcoming 5th mini album Alive, they've arrived one day after another, and have made my mind go into overload!
Seungri and Daesang's hair is so cool! They've really upped their image this time round. And the whole breathing appartus theme is highly intriguing...
But as you can see from the photo above, we are now just waitng for one more teaser photo - G-Dragon's.
G-Dragon is my favourite member, so I am impatiently waiting to see what his photo will look like. Something out of this world, I'm sure, as he is known for his unique and wild style.
EXTRA NEWS: It's also been announced that the album will be released in six versions - a version with each band member on their own, and a version of the 5 guys together. Although I'm still waiting to see G-Dragon's photo, I think I'll be ordering his edition.
BIG BANG's comeback is upon us!
I am a BIG BIG BANG fan. Their 2011 comeback - with tracks such as Tonight, Love Song and Stupid Liar - really made me a huge fan of the South Korean five piece. They're so unique - in their music and their style - and hearing the news that their 2012 comeback will take place on the 29th of February, I've been eagerly awaiting more info!
Last night, YG (BIG BANG's company) posted the first teaser photo of their comeback. The teaser photo is of TOP - one of BIG BANG's rappers, known for his deep and husky voice. The image is nothing short of incredible. Although we can't be sure of the concept yet, the blue hair, the black latex-esque clothing, the studded arm bands and the breathing apparatus are so striking.
Their 5th mini album is titled ALIVE. Only 3 more weeks until we get to hear the final product. Hopefully, in the next week, we'll be getting the other member's teaser photos too.

NEW MUSIC: BIG BANG - Love Song
OK, currently sitting in my room and for the past hour all I've heard is the horrendous shrieking of someone's girlfriend. Wonderful, you're having a good time - I'm pleased - but does your laugh need to be so disgustingly pulling-out-my-hair shrieking LOUD that a deaf person on the top of Mount Everest can still hear you? SMH.
But I have found solace in BIG BANG's new song / video. For such an explosive, climatic and epic song - I have found such peace watching their captivating music video. "Love Song" is exactly that - a bitter love song, with leader GD singing "I hate this love song... I hate this love song...". The whole song and video has me thinking the opposite - I LOVE THIS LOVE SONG.
Quite simply amazingly well done.
