REVIEW: Miryo aka Johoney

I haven't posted for a week, and what better to return than with Miryo's first ever mini album? I've already written about how excited I was to hear this and now it's finally here! Miryo has produced and written her entire debut album Miryo aka Johoney, so let's see if it's been worth all the anticipation.

Miryo teases new album

Miryo is one of K-Pop's most formidable rappers. As one fourth of super-group Brown Eyed Girls, she serves as their rapper and is also heavily involved in the writing and production side of their music. February 1st will see Miryo's first venture as a solo artist when she releases her hotly anticipated mini album "Miryo - AKA Johoney".

It's a very intriguing title and the promo shots that we've seen so far for the mini album are very interesting, showing a different side of Miryo that we haven't seen before. Brown Eyed Girls are known for their dark and mysterious concepts (Abracadabra, Sixth Sense, Cleansing Cream) so it's rather different seeing  Miryo in a tentalising, sugary image.

No news about the promotional single as of yet, but I'm sure that the K-Pop world is awaiting this debut. Miryo is often cited as one of the best female rappers in Korea, so it'll be interested to see what she brings on her own, without the support of her bandmates Jea, Narsha and Ga-in.

Check out her MV teaser, which came out today, featuring none other than Girls' Generation's Sunny:
