CD Review and unboxing: Girl's Day "Everyday" Mini Album

Girl's Day released their first ever mini album in July 2011 and today, January 14th 2012, I finally recieved my copy. OK, I'm a bad fan for not buying it sooner, but it was just one of those albums that I downloaded and never got round to purchasing. But I found out it was available on hmv.com (UK's top CD retailer) for £10, so I just had to buy it and it arrived this morning in the post - leaving a big smile on my face. I'm really happy that HMV have begun stocking K-Pop CDs (although their catalogue isn't very large at the moment), as it means that as soon as I order a CD, it'll arrive shortly after. Good news for me.

Firstly, I think the CD packaging is really good. It's a long hard case, and I know these photos may not do it justice, but it's quite a large product. The theme of the CD is very "cutesey". It's pink, full of love hearts and... wedding dresses? But that's kind of what Girl's Day is about. They are insanely cute and their image matches their personalities. The images in the booklet are very sweet and sugary, too.

As for the music, I think it's a fantastic mini album. It's punchy, in your face and fun from start to finish. Although they have a cutesey image, I think their material is quite different. It definately falls under the vast umbrella of pop music, but Girl's Day incorporate heavy tones of electronica - a sound which wouldn't sound out of place in Japan. Their biggest hit to date - "Twinkle Twinkle" - also features on the mini album and that truly is the highlight of this short yet sweet CD.

I'm hoping that for their next release, Girl's Day continue exploring that electronic sound that they've situated themselves in and continue to grow into themselves - perhaps eventually shaking off the wedding dresses!
